Description
Trollius × cultorum ‘New Moon’ (New Moon Globe Flower) is a striking herbaceous perennial prized for its abundant, globe-shaped blooms that showcase a vibrant, saturated orange hue with a distinctive glossy sheen. This cultivar is a hybrid derived from northern European and Asian species, selected for its compact habit, extended flowering period from late spring to early summer, and resilience in cooler climates. The rounded flowers are composed of numerous overlapping petals that create a lantern-like appearance, adding a bold architectural element to moist garden settings, woodland borders, and naturalized perennial beds. Known for thriving in consistently moist, rich soils with partial shade, ‘New Moon’ is valued for its deer resistance and minimal pest issues, making it a low-maintenance choice for gardeners seeking a splash of bold color in shady environments. This cultivar has been recognized within horticultural circles for its improved flower form and vigor, standing out among Trollius varieties for both garden performance and ornamental appeal.
