Description
Thujopsis dolabrata ‘Nana’, commonly known as Hiba Arborvitae, is a compact, slow-growing evergreen conifer prized for its dense, rich green foliage and naturally dwarf, rounded form. Native to Japan, this cultivar is a dwarf selection of the species Thujopsis dolabrata, which belongs to the cypress family (Cupressaceae). It features glossy, dark green, scale-like leaves with a subtle, resinous aroma, providing year-round visual interest and a fine texture that contrasts beautifully with other landscape plants. ‘Nana’ is particularly valued for its adaptability to a range of soil types and its tolerance of shade, making it an excellent choice for foundation plantings, rock gardens, and low hedges. Its striking, slow growth habit and neat appearance have earned it popularity among gardeners seeking low-maintenance, evergreen accent plants with a unique, refined presence.
