Description
Taxus x media ‘Runyan’ Anglojap Yew is a robust evergreen shrub known for its dense, upright growth habit and dark green, needle-like foliage. This hybrid yew, resulting from a cross between English yew (Taxus baccata) and Japanese yew (Taxus cuspidata), combines the best traits of both parents, offering superior cold hardiness and adaptability to various soil types and light conditions. Valued for its versatility, ‘Runyan’ Anglojap Yew is commonly used in formal hedges, foundation plantings, and as a privacy screen due to its dense foliage and slow growth rate, which allows for easy maintenance and shaping. The plant’s deep green needles provide year-round interest, and its tolerance to urban pollution makes it a popular choice for city landscapes. Historically, yews have been prized in European gardens for centuries, often symbolizing longevity and resilience. This cultivar continues that tradition by delivering dependable performance and aesthetic appeal in North American landscapes.
