Description
Pinus parviflora ‘Tempelhof’, commonly known as Japanese White Pine, is a striking evergreen conifer prized for its elegant, sculptural form and soft, silvery-blue needles. Native to Japan, this species has a long history of cultivation in traditional Japanese gardens, where its slow-growing, layered branches are often artistically shaped through pruning to create a graceful, cloud-like appearance. ‘Tempelhof’ is especially valued for its dense, compact growth habit and its tolerance of a range of soil types and climates, making it a versatile choice for both formal and naturalistic landscapes. Its unique bluish-green needles and refined texture add year-round interest, while its rugged bark provides additional visual appeal as it matures. The cultivar has been recognized for its ornamental qualities and adaptability, often used as a specimen tree or focal point in garden design.
