Description
Pinus mugo TRUDwarf® ‘INDom2’, marketed under the trade name Pesto® Swiss Mountain Pine, is a compact and slow-growing dwarf conifer valued for its dense, evergreen foliage and rugged alpine character. Originating from the mountainous regions of central and southern Europe, Pinus mugo, commonly known as Mugo Pine, has been a staple in rock gardens and landscape designs for its adaptability to poor soils, cold temperatures, and drought conditions. The Pesto® cultivar distinguishes itself with exceptionally rich, dark green needles and a tightly mounded growth habit, making it ideal for small gardens, foundation plantings, and container use. Its robust nature combined with ornamental appeal allows it to serve as a year-round focal point with minimal maintenance. This particular selection has been recognized for its superior winter hardiness and disease resistance, traits that enhance its popularity among gardeners and landscapers seeking resilient evergreen options.
