Description
Picea pungens ‘Bakeri’, commonly known as Baker’s Blue Spruce, is a striking evergreen conifer prized for its vivid silvery-blue needles that provide year-round color and texture to landscapes. Originating from selections of the native Colorado blue spruce, this cultivar is valued for its dense, pyramidal growth habit and exceptional cold hardiness, making it well-suited to a variety of climates, particularly in northern and mountainous regions. Its stiff, sharply pointed needles contribute to its distinctive appearance and offer excellent wind resistance. Historically, the blue spruce has been a popular ornamental tree in North American landscapes for over a century, often planted as a specimen or used in windbreaks and privacy screens. Bakeri’s unique coloration and robust growth have made it a favorite among gardeners and landscapers seeking a durable, visually striking conifer.
