Description
Picea orientalis ‘Deer Run’, commonly known as Oriental Spruce, is a distinctive evergreen conifer prized for its graceful, finely textured foliage and compact, pyramidal growth habit. Native to the mountainous regions of northeastern Turkey and the Caucasus, this cultivar exhibits a rich, deep green needle color with a soft, almost feathery appearance that adds year-round interest and texture to landscapes. ‘Deer Run’ is valued for its moderate growth rate and adaptability to various soil types, thriving best in well-drained, slightly acidic soils with full sun exposure. Its dense branching structure makes it an excellent choice for foundation plantings, specimen use, or as a backdrop in mixed borders. This Oriental Spruce is also noted for its resilience to urban pollution and deer resistance, making it a practical and attractive option for gardens in challenging environments. Its elegant form and evergreen presence have made it a favored selection among landscapers and garden enthusiasts alike.
