Introducing the stunning Paeonia x intersectional ‘Purple Sensation’® Itoh Peony, a true masterpiece of horticultural innovation and beauty! This remarkable Itoh peony is a captivating hybrid that combines the best traits of herbaceous and tree peonies, resulting in a vigorous, long-lasting bloomer with extraordinary floral appeal. ‘Purple Sensation’® boasts large, semi-double to anemone-shaped blooms in luscious shades of vibrant purple, accented by a contrasting center of creamy yellow stamens that add a dramatic pop of color to any garden setting. Developed through meticulous hybridization techniques, this variety offers exceptional disease resistance, impressive foliage that remains attractive throughout the growing season, and sturdy stems that support its spectacular flowers without drooping. As a cross between Paeonia lactiflora and Paeonia suffruticosa, the Itoh group was first introduced in the late 20th century, revolutionizing the peony world by providing gardeners with a unique plant that blooms more reliably and later than traditional herbaceous peonies. ‘Purple Sensation’® is perfect for adding an elegant, vibrant splash of color to perennial borders, cut flower gardens, or containers, making it a coveted choice for both novice and expert gardeners alike who seek beauty, durability, and a captivating history in their plant selections.
