Description
Oenothera lindheimeri ‘Gaudi Pink’, formerly known as Gaura lindheimeri, is a captivating perennial renowned for its airy, long-blooming spikes of delicate pink flowers that create a whimsical, butterfly-like effect in the garden. Native to Texas and Louisiana, this drought-tolerant species thrives in full sun and well-drained soils, making it an excellent choice for low-maintenance landscapes and pollinator gardens. ‘Gaudi Pink’ distinguishes itself from traditional gaura varieties with its vibrant pink blooms and more compact growth habit, typically reaching heights of 18 to 24 inches, which lends a refined, garden-friendly silhouette. This cultivar is valued for its extended flowering period from late spring through fall, attracting bees and butterflies, and its adaptability to a variety of soil types, including sandy or rocky conditions. The plant’s delicate, narrow leaves provide a graceful backdrop to its flowers, adding texture and movement to mixed borders or container plantings. ‘Gaudi Pink’ has been recognized in the horticultural community for combining the charm of classic gaura with improved bloom color intensity and plant vigor, making it a standout selection among ornamental perennials.
