Description
Miscanthus sinensis var. condensatus ‘Cabaret’, commonly known as Maidengrass, is a striking ornamental grass valued for its dense, compact growth and elegant arching foliage. Originating from East Asia, this variety is a cultivar of the widely admired Miscanthus sinensis species, known for its versatility and resilience. ‘Cabaret’ is distinguished by its shorter stature compared to typical Miscanthus grasses, reaching a manageable height that makes it ideal for mixed borders, mass plantings, and container displays. Its finely textured, narrow leaves exhibit a vibrant green color with subtle variegation, providing year-round interest and a graceful movement in the breeze. In late summer to early fall, ‘Cabaret’ produces delicate, feathery plumes that add a soft, airy texture and visual appeal to landscapes. This variety is especially valued for its drought tolerance, low maintenance requirements, and adaptability to a range of soil types and light conditions, thriving best in full sun. Its compact form and ornamental qualities have earned it recognition among garden enthusiasts and landscape professionals, making it a favored choice for both formal and naturalistic garden designs.
