Description
Miscanthus sinensis ‘Little Kitten’, commonly known as Maidengrass, is a compact and ornamental ornamental grass prized for its delicate texture and graceful form. This cultivar features narrow, finely textured leaves that emerge in a soft green hue, maturing to a silvery-blue shade, and produces airy, feathery flower plumes in late summer that add lightness and movement to garden landscapes. Native to East Asia, Miscanthus sinensis has been cultivated extensively for both ornamental and practical uses, including erosion control and as a bioenergy crop. ‘Little Kitten’ stands out for its smaller stature compared to traditional maiden grasses, making it ideal for smaller garden spaces or mixed borders while still providing the signature vertical accent and seasonal interest of miscanthus. This variety is also known for its excellent adaptability to varying soil types and its tolerance to drought once established. Its compact habit and elegant flowering plumes have earned it recognition among garden enthusiasts and landscape professionals seeking low-maintenance grasses that deliver both texture and structure to perennial plantings.
