Description
Miscanthus sinensis ‘Gracillimus’, commonly known as Maidengrass, is a striking ornamental grass renowned for its elegant, narrow, arching foliage and graceful, feathery flower plumes that emerge in late summer and persist into fall. Originating from East Asia, this cultivar has been widely embraced in landscape design due to its slender, finely textured leaves that create a soft, flowing movement in the garden and its ability to reach heights of 5 to 7 feet, making it an excellent choice for adding vertical interest and privacy screens. ‘Gracillimus’ thrives in full sun to partial shade and adapts well to a variety of soil types, demonstrating both drought tolerance and low maintenance needs, which contribute to its popularity among gardeners and landscapers. Its upright, clump-forming habit and dramatic seasonal color changes—from bright green foliage to golden-bronze tones in autumn—enhance its ornamental appeal throughout the year. Recognized for its refined aesthetics and reliable performance, Miscanthus sinensis ‘Gracillimus’ has become a staple in perennial gardens, modern landscapes, and naturalistic plantings, valued for its combination of beauty, resilience, and versatility.
