Description
Miscanthus sinensis ‘Adagio’, commonly known as Maidengrass, is an ornamental grass prized for its elegant, arching foliage and striking seasonal interest. This cultivar features narrow, finely textured green leaves with a distinctive silvery-white midrib, creating a graceful and airy appearance in the landscape. Reaching heights of 4 to 6 feet, ‘Adagio’ produces delicate, feathery plumes in late summer to fall that transition from a soft pinkish hue to a silvery-white, adding movement and texture to garden designs. Originating from Asia, Miscanthus sinensis has a long history of use in traditional gardens, and ‘Adagio’ represents a refined selection valued for its compact form and refined leaf pattern. It is notably tolerant of a wide range of soils and conditions, including drought and heat once established, making it a versatile choice for borders, mass plantings, or as a specimen ornamental. Its upright habit and minimal maintenance requirements have made ‘Adagio’ a favorite among gardeners seeking both architectural form and seasonal beauty.
