Description
Microbiota decussata ‘Condavis’ Fuzzball™ Siberian Carpet Cypress is a distinctive evergreen groundcover native to the mountainous regions of Siberia, prized for its dense, soft, and finely textured foliage that forms a lush carpet-like mat. This slow-growing conifer features scale-like, bright green leaves that turn a subtle bronze in winter, providing year-round interest and excellent erosion control on slopes or open spaces. The compact, mounding habit of ‘Fuzzball’ makes it an ideal choice for low-maintenance landscapes, rock gardens, and as a natural groundcover beneath taller shrubs. Its unique ability to thrive in harsh climates and poor soils highlights its resilience and adaptability. In addition to its ornamental appeal, Microbiota decussata has a rich botanical history, having been introduced from Russian Far East habitats and gaining attention among gardeners for its fine texture and evergreen presence. Its attractive form and tolerance to cold and drought have earned it recognition in select horticultural circles focused on sustainable and low-water-use landscaping.
