Description
Lotus maculatus ‘Gold Flash’ is a vigorous, twining annual vine celebrated for its stunning golden-yellow variegated foliage that brings bright, eye-catching color to gardens and containers. Also known as the Gold Flash Lotus Vine, this plant is native to South Africa and thrives in warm climates, where it exhibits rapid growth and adaptability to various soil types, provided they are well-drained. Its delicate, pea-shaped flowers typically appear in late summer, adding a subtle floral interest, but it is the striking foliage variegation—marked by vivid gold splashes on rich green leaves—that makes it a standout choice for vertical accents such as trellises, fences, and arbors. Renowned for its drought tolerance and heat resilience, Lotus maculatus ‘Gold Flash’ is favored in performance-focused landscapes where low maintenance and vibrant color are desired. This cultivar has been recognized in horticultural circles for its ornamental foliage and versatility, making it a popular selection among landscape professionals and home gardeners alike.
