Description
Lavandula x intermedia ‘Alba’, commonly known as White Lavandin, is a striking hybrid lavender cultivar resulting from the cross between Lavandula angustifolia (English lavender) and Lavandula latifolia (spike lavender). Renowned for its robust growth and exceptional fragrance, this perennial shrub features silvery-green foliage and elegant spikes of pure white flowers that bloom profusely from mid to late summer. White Lavandin is highly valued for its drought tolerance, adaptability to a range of soil types, and ability to thrive in full sun, making it a versatile choice for ornamental borders, herb gardens, and landscapes designed for pollinators. The plant’s aromatic oils are widely used in perfumery and aromatherapy, continuing the long-standing tradition of lavenders in Mediterranean and European horticulture dating back centuries. Its vigorous growth habit and distinctive white blooms set it apart from the more common purple lavenders, offering a unique aesthetic that brightens garden spaces. This cultivar has garnered attention for its ornamental appeal and utility, often recommended by authoritative sources such as the Missouri Botanical Garden and Proven Winners for sustainable and fragrant garden designs.
