Description
Juniperus × pfitzeriana, commonly known as Pfitzer Juniper, is a popular evergreen shrub valued for its dense, spreading growth habit and vibrant blue-green foliage. This hybrid juniper, developed in the early 20th century, is a cross between Juniperus chinensis and Juniperus sabina, combining the hardiness and adaptability of both species. Pfitzer Juniper is prized in the landscape industry for its versatility as a groundcover or low hedge, thriving in a wide range of soil types and exhibiting excellent drought tolerance once established. Its needle-like foliage offers year-round color and texture, making it a favored choice for erosion control, foundation planting, and mass plantings in both residential and commercial settings. The plant’s resistance to common pests and diseases further enhances its appeal among gardeners and landscapers. Pfitzer Juniper has been recognized for its landscape value, contributing to its longstanding popularity in North American gardens.
