Description
Juniperus scopulorum ‘Gray Gleam,’ commonly known as Rocky Mountain Juniper, is an evergreen conifer prized for its striking silvery-blue-gray foliage that adds year-round color and texture to landscapes. Native to the mountainous regions of the western United States, this hardy juniper is well-adapted to a variety of soil types and is particularly drought-tolerant once established, making it an excellent choice for low-maintenance gardens and xeriscaping. Its narrow, columnar growth habit makes ‘Gray Gleam’ ideal for use as a privacy screen, windbreak, or vertical accent in mixed borders. Traditionally valued by Native American tribes for medicinal and ceremonial purposes, the Rocky Mountain Juniper also provides essential habitat and food for wildlife. The cultivar ‘Gray Gleam’ stands out for its dense, uniform form and consistent silvery hue, which remains vibrant throughout the seasons, enhancing garden design with subtle elegance. This juniper has been recognized for its ornamental appeal and resilience, contributing to its popularity in both residential and commercial landscapes.
