Description
Juniperus squamata ‘Parsonii’ is a distinctive cultivar of the flaky juniper known for its dense, spreading growth habit and unique scale-like foliage that exhibits a soft blue-green hue, making it a favored choice for groundcover and rock gardens. Originating from the Himalayan region, this low-growing evergreen shrub typically reaches 1 to 2 feet in height with a wider spread, creating an attractive carpet effect that provides excellent erosion control and year-round interest. Its fine texture and tolerance to a wide range of soil conditions, including drought and poor drainage, make it highly adaptable in landscapes. ‘Parsonii’ is appreciated for its ability to maintain color and form in colder climates, often used as a foundation plant or in mass plantings for its low maintenance and ornamental appeal. This cultivar has garnered attention in horticultural circles for its versatility and distinctive appearance, contributing to its popularity among landscapers and gardeners alike.
