Description
Juniperus chinensis ‘Torulosa’, commonly known as Hollywood Juniper, is an evergreen conifer celebrated for its distinctive, sculptural form. Originating from Japan and introduced to the United States in the 1920s, this cultivar is noted for its upright, irregular growth habit with gracefully twisted branches and dense, dark green foliage. Its unique appearance makes it a popular choice for specimen planting, topiary, and privacy screens. Adaptable to various soil types and environmental conditions, it thrives in full sun and is tolerant of drought, heat, and coastal conditions. While often referred to as ‘Torulosa’, some authorities recognize ‘Kaizuka’ as the correct cultivar name, with ‘Torulosa’ serving as a trade name.
