Description
Ilex x ’Conive’ (commonly marketed as Festive® Red Holly) is a dense, pyramidal broadleaf evergreen shrub or small tree prized for its glossy dark-green, spiny foliage and vibrant red berries that appear in fall and persist into winter. Selected for its strong upright habit and suitability to formal hedging or specimen planting, it offers year-round structure even before berry display and thrives in a range of soils with good drainage. Originating from the “Red Holly” series bred at Evergreen Nursery in Poplarville, Mississippi, this hybrid is part of a lineage that includes the notable cultivar ‘Mary Nell’. It is both heat- and drought-tolerant once established and makes an excellent winter interest plant for screens or accent planting.
