Description
Festuca glauca, commonly known as Blue Fescue, is a compact, ornamental grass prized for its fine-textured, blue-gray foliage that forms neat, rounded mounds. Native to Europe, this cool-season perennial grass thrives in well-drained soils and full sun, making it a versatile choice for borders, rock gardens, and mass plantings. Its unique steel-blue color provides year-round interest and contrasts beautifully with flowering plants and other greenery. Blue Fescue is drought-tolerant once established and requires minimal maintenance, adding to its appeal in sustainable landscaping. Valued for its graceful texture and color, Festuca glauca has earned recognition for its ornamental qualities, often recommended by horticultural experts such as the Missouri Botanical Garden and NC State Extension for use in diverse garden settings.
