Description
Deschampsia flexuosa, commonly known as Wavy Hair Grass, is a delicate, fine-textured ornamental grass prized for its graceful, arching stems and airy, wavy seed heads that create a soft, flowing movement in garden landscapes. Native to temperate regions of Europe and Asia, this perennial grass thrives in acidic, well-drained soils and is often found in woodland and heathland environments. Its slender, green foliage turns a warm golden hue in autumn, adding seasonal interest and texture to naturalistic and shade garden settings. Wavy Hair Grass is valued for its low maintenance requirements and adaptability to partial shade, making it an excellent choice for ground cover, erosion control, or as a textural contrast in mixed borders. Its subtle elegance and tolerance for less fertile soils have made it a favored species among gardeners seeking a refined, understated ornamental grass.
