Description
Cenchrus (Pennisetum) setaceus ‘Eaton Canyon’ Dwarf Red Fountain Grass is a compact ornamental grass prized for its graceful, arching burgundy-red foliage and soft, feathery flower spikes that emerge in late summer and persist into fall. This dwarf selection typically grows to a manageable height of about 2 to 3 feet, making it ideal for smaller garden spaces, containers, and borders. Native to North Africa and the Mediterranean, fountain grasses have been widely cultivated for their excellent drought tolerance, adaptability to various soil types, and low maintenance requirements. ‘Eaton Canyon’ distinguishes itself with its deeper red pigmentation and a more compact habit compared to standard varieties, adding vibrant color and texture throughout the growing season. Its cascading form and movement in the breeze make it a popular choice in ornamental landscape design, where it provides dynamic contrast alongside perennials and shrubs. This cultivar has been recognized by various horticultural societies for its ornamental appeal and versatility in sustainable landscaping practices.
