Description
Cenchrus (Pennisetum) alopecuroides ‘Foxtrot’ is a vigorous, clump-forming ornamental fountain grass prized for its large, graceful fountain shape, narrow green foliage, and showy pink-tinted to blush bottlebrush plumes that rise in midsummer and age to tan for extended seasonal interest. It is considered one of the largest and strongest-growing hardy fountain grasses, with elegant movement in even the slightest breeze. This cultivar was selected and introduced by noted plantsman Kurt Bluemel and was formerly sold under the invalid name Pennisetum alopecuroides ‘Japonicum’. Like the species, it brings strong texture, fall color, and winter presence to borders, mass plantings, and specimen uses.
