Description
Cenchrus (Pennisetum) alopecuroides ‘Burgundy Bunny’ is a compact, dwarf fountain grass selected for its tight clumping habit, soft tan-to-creamy white bottlebrush plumes, and exceptional foliage color that shifts from green with burgundy-red highlights in summer to a rich, blazing deep red in fall. It is especially valued for small gardens, edging, containers, and front-of-border plantings where its miniature size and strong late-season color can be appreciated up close. ‘Burgundy Bunny’ originated as a sport of ‘Little Bunny’ and was discovered at Walla Walla Nursery, with the patent literature noting its compact clumping habit, slow growth, and pronounced dark-red foliage as key distinguishing traits.
