Description
Cedrus libani ssp. stenocoma, commonly known as the Lebanese Cedar, is a majestic evergreen conifer native to the mountainous regions of Lebanon, Syria, and Turkey. Renowned for its distinctive, broad, and flat-topped crown with horizontal branching and dense blue-green needles, this subspecies of cedar is noted for its slow growth and impressive longevity, often living for centuries. Historically, the Lebanese Cedar holds significant cultural and historical importance, famously referenced in ancient texts such as the Bible, and valued for its durable, fragrant wood used in construction and shipbuilding since antiquity. Its tolerance for drought and adaptability to various soil types make it an excellent choice for ornamental landscapes seeking a stately focal point. The tree’s elegant form and resilience have earned it recognition among horticulturists and landscape professionals as a symbol of endurance and beauty.
