Description
Cedrus deodara ‘Aurea’, commonly known as the Golden Deodar Cedar, is a striking evergreen conifer prized for its graceful, pendulous branches and vibrant golden-yellow needles that provide year-round color and texture in the landscape. Native to the western Himalayas, the species has been cultivated for centuries and valued for its stately form and adaptability. The ‘Aurea’ cultivar distinguishes itself with brighter, more golden foliage compared to the typical blue-green hues of the species, making it a standout specimen tree in gardens and parks. This variety thrives in well-drained soils and full sun, demonstrating excellent drought tolerance once established, and can grow into a majestic tree with a pyramidal shape reaching heights of 40 to 60 feet. Its unique coloration and elegant form have earned it recognition in ornamental horticulture circles, appreciated by designers and collectors for adding vibrant evergreen interest and vertical structure to landscapes.
