Description
Cedrus atlantica ‘Blue Cascade’, commonly known as Blue Cascade Atlas Cedar, is a striking conifer renowned for its graceful, cascading form and stunning silvery-blue needles that provide year-round visual interest. Native to the Atlas Mountains of Morocco and Algeria, the species was introduced to cultivation in the 19th century and has since become a favorite for ornamental landscapes due to its unique weeping habit and vibrant foliage color. This slow-growing evergreen thrives in well-drained soils and full sun exposure, making it an excellent choice for specimen planting, rock gardens, or as a dramatic accent in mixed borders. Its dense, pendulous branches create a soft, flowing silhouette that contrasts beautifully with more upright evergreens. The Blue Cascade cultivar is particularly valued for its deep blue needle coloration, which intensifies with exposure to sunlight, adding a cool-toned elegance to garden designs. Its adaptability and distinctive aesthetics have made ‘Blue Cascade’ a celebrated selection among conifer enthusiasts and landscape professionals alike.
