Description
Carex flacca ‘Blue Zinger’, commonly known as Blue Sedge, is a striking ornamental grass valued for its vibrant blue-green foliage and graceful arching form. Native to Europe and western Asia, this evergreen sedge is renowned for its adaptability to a wide range of soil types and moisture conditions, thriving in both sun and partial shade. Unlike many ornamental grasses, Blue Zinger maintains a compact, clumping habit without aggressive spreading, making it an excellent choice for borders, rock gardens, and mass plantings where a splash of cool-toned color is desired year-round. Its fine-textured leaves provide an appealing contrast to broader-leaved perennials and shrubs, and its tolerance to drought and deer resistance add to its versatility in landscape design. Blue Sedge has also been recognized for its ornamental value in garden settings, appreciated for combining both resilience and aesthetic appeal.
