Description
Bouteloua gracilis ‘Blonde Ambition’, commonly known as Blue Grama Grass, is a standout native prairie grass prized for its unique ornamental qualities and ecological value. Renowned for its fine-textured, upright blue-green foliage that matures to a soft blonde hue, this cultivar provides striking year-round interest and exceptional drought tolerance, making it ideal for low-water landscapes and naturalistic gardens. Native to the North American Great Plains, Blue Grama Grass has been a staple in prairie restoration and sustainable landscaping due to its ability to thrive in poor soils and support local wildlife, including pollinators and birds. ‘Blonde Ambition’ is particularly noted for its distinctive eyelash-shaped seed heads that add delicate movement and texture, enhancing visual appeal throughout the growing season. This cultivar has also gained recognition in horticultural circles for its combination of hardiness, low maintenance, and ornamental charm, making it a popular choice for eco-friendly garden designs and municipal planting projects.
