Description
Bambusa multiplex ‘Alphonse Karr’ is a striking clumping bamboo known for its distinctive bright yellow canes elegantly marked with irregular green stripes, making it a highly ornamental choice for landscape design. Originating from Southeast Asia, this bamboo species is celebrated for its dense, bushy growth habit, reaching heights of 15 to 25 feet, which makes it an excellent natural privacy screen or windbreak without the invasive tendencies of running bamboos. Its resilience to a range of soil types and moderate cold tolerance allow it to thrive in USDA zones 8 through 11, offering year-round visual interest with its lush, lance-shaped green foliage. Bambusa multiplex ‘Alphonse Karr’ has gained recognition among gardeners and landscapers for its combination of vibrant cane coloration and manageable growth habit, contributing to its popularity in ornamental horticulture and urban gardens.
