Backlapping is an important part of maintaining light and smooth cutting action of the reel blade and bedknife for optimal shearing effectiveness. It’s for use on current and older* California TrimmerClassic, Commercial & Crossover modelsthat have an 11-tooth sprocket on the reel blade, and the kit includes an adapter, 80 grit lapping compound and an applicator brush.
*If you have an older model with a different sprocket, you can remove that one, replace it with an 11-tooth sprocket for the purpose of backlapping, and switch back to the original sprocket when finished
