Description
Anacis (Coreopsis) verticillata ‘Sizzle & Spice Zesty Zinger’, commonly known as Threadleaf Tickseed, is a vibrant perennial renowned for its finely dissected, thread-like foliage and profuse display of bright golden-yellow daisy-like flowers with reddish-orange centers that add a spicy pop of color to gardens. This cultivar stands out for its compact, bushy growth habit, typically reaching 12-18 inches in height, making it ideal for borders, containers, and mass plantings. Originating from North American native Coreopsis verticillata species, ‘Sizzle & Spice Zesty Zinger’ thrives in full sun and well-drained soils, exhibiting excellent drought tolerance and resistance to deer and rabbits, which makes it a low-maintenance choice for diverse landscape settings. The plant blooms from early summer through fall, attracting pollinators like bees and butterflies, thus supporting local ecosystems. As a newer introduction bred for enhanced flower color intensity and heat tolerance, it reflects ongoing horticultural efforts to develop resilient, ornamental Coreopsis varieties celebrated for their long bloom periods and adaptability—traits valued by both home gardeners and professional landscapers.
