Originating from South America, primarily Chile and Brazil, Alstroemeria has a rich horticultural history, appreciated since the 18th century for its ornamental beauty and versatility in temperate climates. ‘Inca Bandit’ is particularly valued for its vigorous growth habit, extended blooming period from late spring through summer, and its ability to thrive in well-drained soils with moderate moisture. The plant’s unique leaf twisting, where leaves appear to be upside-down due to a resupinate growth habit, adds an intriguing botanical feature.
