Description
Abelia chinensis Ruby Anniversary® Glossy Abelia is an ornamental deciduous shrub noted for its long season of sweetly fragrant, trumpet-shaped white flowers with soft pink bracts that bloom from mid-summer into fall, attracting butterflies and hummingbirds. New growth emerges in a glossy ruby-red tone that ages to rich green, adding multi-seasonal foliage color interest, and in cooler climates the foliage can show warm autumn hues. This selection is prized for a graceful, arching, mounded habit, good adaptability to average soils, and expanded cold tolerance (as hardy as USDA Zone 5), offering extended utility in landscapes for borders, foundation plantings, screens, or as a specimen. Developed by Susan Keiser in Ossining, NY, the plant has been recognized in Proven Winners selections for its exceptional hardiness and ornamental performance
