Description
Aster novi-belgii ‘Believer’ is a striking perennial known for its vibrant, deep purple-blue flowers with yellow centers that bloom profusely in late summer to fall, adding a burst of late-season color to gardens. This cultivar is a member of the New York aster group, originating from hybridization efforts in the 19th century that combined traits from various native North American asters to create robust, floriferous plants with good disease resistance and compact growth habits. ‘Believer’ features sturdy stems and a bushy form, reaching heights of about 24 to 36 inches, making it ideal for perennial borders and pollinator-friendly gardens. Its late blooming period provides important nectar resources for butterflies and bees during the cooler months. The plant thrives best in full sun with well-drained soils and benefits from regular deadheading to prolong flowering. Recognized for its ornamental value and garden performance, Aster novi-belgii ‘Believer’ has been favored by gardeners and horticulturists for its reliable growth habit and vibrant floral display, contributing to its popularity in both home gardens and public landscapes.
