Description
Cortaderia selloana ‘Rosea’, commonly known as Pink Pampas Grass, is a striking ornamental grass native to South America, particularly Argentina, Brazil, and Uruguay. This cultivar is prized for its tall, graceful plumes that showcase a unique soft pink coloration, setting it apart from the traditional white or cream varieties of pampas grass. Growing vigorously to heights of 8 to 10 feet, its feathery flower heads emerge in late summer to fall, providing a dramatic architectural element in garden landscapes and cut flower arrangements. Pink Pampas Grass thrives in full sun and well-drained soils, demonstrating drought tolerance once established, making it a versatile choice for both coastal and inland gardens. Historically, pampas grass has been used for erosion control and as a decorative feature due to its bold texture and movement in the breeze. This cultivar’s distinctive rose-hued plumes have earned it recognition among gardeners and landscapers seeking a colorful alternative to traditional pampas grass, enhancing ornamental grass collections with its soft, elegant presence.
