Description
Picea pungens ‘Roundabout’ ®, commonly known as Dwarf Blue Spruce, is a compact, slow-growing evergreen renowned for its striking silvery-blue needles and dense, rounded form. This cultivar is a dwarf selection of the Colorado Blue Spruce, prized for its vibrant foliage color that adds year-round visual interest to landscapes and gardens. Originating from the Rocky Mountains, Picea pungens is naturally adapted to colder climates and well-drained soils, making ‘Roundabout’ an excellent choice for foundation plantings, rock gardens, and container displays where space is limited. Its unique spherical habit sets it apart from the traditional pyramidal spruce, providing a distinctive architectural element. The ‘Roundabout’ Dwarf Blue Spruce has been recognized for its outstanding ornamental qualities and durability, often highlighted by horticultural organizations for its ease of maintenance and excellent color retention throughout the seasons.
