Description
Picea orientalis, commonly known as Oriental Spruce, is an elegant evergreen conifer native to the mountainous regions of the Caucasus and northeastern Turkey. Renowned for its dense, pyramidal form and rich, dark green needles that are unusually soft and fine-textured compared to other spruces, this species adds year-round structure and deep color to landscapes. Oriental Spruce thrives in cooler climates and adapts well to a variety of soil types, favoring moist, well-drained conditions, making it a popular choice for specimen plantings, windbreaks, and formal gardens. Its slow to moderate growth rate and resistance to common spruce pests enhance its appeal as a long-lasting landscape staple. Historically valued for timber and ornamental use in its native range, Oriental Spruce has also gained recognition among horticulturists for its refined appearance and versatility in both large and small garden settings.
