Description
Juniperus horizontalis ‘Plumosa’, commonly known as Creeping Juniper, is a low-growing, spreading evergreen shrub prized for its dense, feathery foliage that ranges from vibrant green to bluish-green hues, adding year-round color and texture to landscapes. Originating from North America, this hardy groundcover is especially valued for its ability to stabilize soil on slopes and prevent erosion, making it a practical and attractive choice for ground-level planting. Its creeping habit, typically reaching 6 to 12 inches in height with a spread of several feet, allows it to create a lush carpet effect that thrives in full sun and well-drained soils. The ‘Plumosa’ cultivar is noted for its soft, plumose needles that provide a finer texture compared to other junipers, enhancing its ornamental appeal in rock gardens, borders, and foundation plantings. This plant is drought-tolerant, deer-resistant, and requires minimal maintenance, making it a popular option for sustainable landscaping. Recognized for its versatility and reliability in diverse growing conditions, the Creeping Juniper ‘Plumosa’ continues to be a favored choice among gardeners and landscape professionals.
