Description
Thuja ‘Green Giant’ Arborvitae is a fast-growing, hardy evergreen tree renowned for its dense, pyramidal form and vibrant green foliage that maintains color year-round. Developed in the 1960s through hybridization efforts to combine the hardiness of Western red cedar with the rapid growth and disease resistance of Eastern arborvitae, this cultivar thrives in a variety of soils and climates, making it a popular choice for privacy screens, windbreaks, and landscape hedges. Its vigorous growth rate of up to three feet per year allows for quick establishment, while its tolerance to deer damage and resistance to common arborvitae diseases such as root rot and bagworms contribute to its low-maintenance appeal. The Thuja ‘Green Giant’ has also been recognized for its outstanding performance in landscape use, earning praise from horticultural institutions for its adaptability and aesthetic value.
