Description
Taxus x media ‘Green Wave’, commonly known as Anglojap Yew, is a vigorous, evergreen shrub prized for its dense, spreading habit and rich, dark green needle-like foliage. This hybrid yew is a cross between Taxus cuspidata (Japanese yew) and Taxus baccata (English yew), combining the hardiness and adaptability of both species to thrive in a variety of landscape settings. ‘Green Wave’ is notable for its graceful, arching branches that create a natural, flowing appearance, making it an excellent choice for foundation plantings, hedges, or groundcover in shaded to partially sunny locations. It is slow-growing yet durable, tolerating pruning well to maintain formal shapes or informal natural forms. The plant is also deer resistant and relatively pest-tolerant, which adds to its landscaping appeal. Anglojap Yew has a rich horticultural history dating back to mid-20th century hybridization efforts aimed at improving cold hardiness and disease resistance in yews. Its versatility and elegant texture have made it a staple in both residential and commercial landscapes.
