Description
The Rosa Floribunda ‘White Licorice’ is a captivating floribunda rose known for its pure white blooms and subtle licorice fragrance, offering a delightful sensory experience in garden settings. Floribunda roses, a hybrid class developed in the early 20th century by crossing hybrid teas with polyantha roses, combine the prolific blooming habit of polyanthas with the refined flower form of hybrid teas, resulting in clusters of abundant, medium-sized flowers that continuously bloom from spring through fall. ‘White Licorice’ distinguishes itself with its clean, bright white petals contrasted by vibrant green foliage, making it an excellent choice for borders, mass plantings, or as a striking focal point in mixed beds. This variety thrives best in full sun and well-drained soil, displaying good disease resistance typical of many modern floribundas, and requires regular maintenance such as pruning to promote air circulation and sustained blooming. Its unique licorice scent is rare among roses, providing added sensory appeal beyond the usual rose fragrance. While specific accolades for ‘White Licorice’ are not widely documented, floribunda roses as a group have been celebrated for their versatile garden performance and continuous flowering, making them a staple in both formal and informal landscapes.
