Description
Pittosporum tenuifolium ‘Ivory Sheen’ Kohuhu is an evergreen shrub native to New Zealand, renowned for its striking variegated foliage that features creamy ivory margins contrasting against deep green centers. This cultivar, often referred to as Kohuhu in Maori, is prized for its compact, dense growth habit and lustrous leaves that add year-round interest to gardens and landscapes. Known for its versatility, ‘Ivory Sheen’ performs well as a specimen plant, hedge, or container specimen, thriving in well-drained soils with moderate moisture and full sun to partial shade conditions. The plant produces small, fragrant, yellowish flowers in spring, followed by woody seed capsules, although its primary appeal lies in its attractive foliage rather than its blooms. Its adaptability, low maintenance needs, and ornamental variegation make it a popular choice in temperate climates, where it adds texture and brightness. This cultivar contributes to the diversity of Pittosporum selections appreciated for their multi-seasonal appeal and resilience.
