Description
Vitex agnus-castus ‘Shoal Creek’, commonly known as Shoal Creek Chastetree, is a deciduous shrub or small tree native to Southern Europe and Western Asia. Introduced in 1983 by Goodness Grows Nursery in Georgia, this cultivar was selected for its larger, more vibrant flower spikes, faster growth rate, and superior cold hardiness. It features aromatic, gray-green, palmate leaves and produces fragrant, violet-blue flower spikes from late spring through summer, attracting pollinators like bees and butterflies. ‘Shoal Creek’ is noted for its resistance to leaf spot and thrives in full sun with well-drained soil. Its vigorous growth and ornamental appeal make it a popular choice for landscapes seeking drought-tolerant and low-maintenance plants.
